A Song to Him

This was the first serious song that I wrote about two or three years ago. Before this I had been writing a lot of silly and cheesy bits. I think this was the song that got me into seriously writing. It's a worship acoustic song. We made an attempt to record it a few years ago but we were all really new to the field and didn't really have a clue (or a steady beat). We ended up laying down only a few tracks that were pretty bad and then we settled with just the acoustic guitar and vocals for the end of the day which back then were also terrible. Much has changed since then, including the loss of a bass player. But we have many more (and probably better) songs. We also have much tighter music and have gotten a lot better at playing together.

A Song to Him
You turn ashes into beauty
You breathe life into the stars
How could I so unholy
rest in your holy arms?

When the world is shaking
And the flood pours in
who will be my refuge?
Rescue me from my sin?

King of all ages, you shine above the son
Your glory spreads like fire
Lord of the nations, the heavens sing your name
I can't wait to see your face

All the sins I've committed
Pour down like the rain
But the one who gives me shelter
Is the one who bore the pain

Not mine...

And so begins my first post on this blog. I pray that in whatever I write or post, God would be most glorified..
